
Raja's resignation - victory for democracy, press freedom : Jaya
AIADMK general secretary Ms Jayalalithaa has termed the resignation of Telecom Minister Raja as the victory for democracy and press freedom.
She has urged the central government to set up a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the irregularities of allotment of 2 G spectrum. She had also mentioned that the money swindled from this scam has been diverted to Mauritius, Switzerland, Macau and Cayman Islands.
Jaya charged that the members of Tamilnadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi's family had received major portion of the money.
``If truth is to be brought out a JPC probe is necessary'' she urged.
Further, she had asked for the arrest of Mr Raja and tried for perpetrating the biggest scam in the history of mankind.
The money trail has to be traced and every single person who had gained out of the scam should be made accountable and should be proceeded against, she added.
Jaya also suggested for immediate action by the Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax department.
``Only then can the resignation be considerd genuine and not just symbolic tokenism'' she said.
She had congratulated the role of print and electronic media that had taken a principled stand on the issue. She also thanked citizens of India, who had put pressure by sending telegrams to the President of India seeking the removal of Raja from Cabinet.
